This is proving to be harder than I expected.
If you’ve been following along, when we last left off I decided not to force creativity in order to create better music.
So what’s happened since? Despite the hustle and bustle of moving into a new house — preparing, packing, moving, and unpacking — I continued to play and write when the mood struck. In the last couple months I started writing two songs, and pushed out a demo of another.
The problem I’m facing now is making time to record properly. I’ve had the track list more or less finalized for a couple months now. But recording is hard work, and I just keep writing new stuff.
What I’ve been writing lately has been slightly inconsistent sonically with the tracks I’m planning to put on this album. So while I don’t want to ignore writing when the mood strikes, I also need to shift my mindset to recording what I have.
Setting a deadline
So, with all of this considered, I figure I just need to set a deadline. I need to make time each day/week to sit down and just do it. Having a deadline will help me to be more accountable. I’m giving myself two months to record, mix, and release it.
And even though I’ve been calling this Project LP, it’s going to end up being more of an EP with 5-6 songs. So two months is totally achievable without adding too much stress.
So it will be done by the gm?
