30 Years

It’s May 5, 2016. Cinco de Mayo. My birthday. I’ve been on this earth for 30 years.

A lot has happened in those 30 years. I wanted to use this post as a sort of retrospective. A way to look back and think about where I’ve been and where I am today. But 30 years is a long time.

I can’t even begin to describe the multitude of experiences and people that have shaped my life. I am the man, husband, and father I am today because of it all.

If I had to, I’d do it all again. Even the hardships — lost loves and friendships, missed experiences, regrets, and the roller coaster of a 12+ years relationship. Because despite all that (and because of it), I am where I’m meant to be. I can’t imagine ending up anywhere else.

My family, my friends, my career, my perspective, my dreams, my past are all pieces of the puzzle that make up who I am. They fit together. They fit me.

I’m hoping to blog more as I continue to reflect on this milestone year. Here’s to the last 30 years and the next 30.
